A Peek At My Organising Book Collection: What Inspires a Professional Organiser

I’ve found recently that people are completely fascinated by my organising skills.

Clients, the media, friends and random people in shopping centre queues desperately want to know:

  • If I’ve been born with the organising gene – definitely not – read about it at the bottom of this page
  • Whether I went to some kind of course to learn them – yes, but it was more business focused than practical skills, or
  • Whether I’ve read every organising book under the sun - read here why I think that’s a waste of time.

So now you know I haven’t read every organising book under the sun – but what books and magazines live on my shelves, give me inspiration and are my go-to organising books?

Hold on tight – there’s quite a few!

What are your Organising Goals? We want to hear them!

2013 Organising SurveyWe all have organising goals – even me! – but have you ever taken time out to actually write down what your goals are?

I’m sure there’s a plethora of research out there that says if we write our goals down they’re more likely to come true (or something to that effect!).

If you’re like me though – kinda creative and a little bit crazy (or at least that’s what my husband said recently when I bought a pair of blue boots!) – you find writing a list of goals boring.

How to Quickly and Effectively Organise Your Family Holiday

This is a guest post from Kristy Alexander, a freelance Australian mummy/travel blogger.

My mum used to say to me that going out for the day with a baby is like going away for the week you need to pack so much stuff. I’m not sure it was ever quite that bad but it is pretty hardcore. I remember our first trip away when my son was 8 weeks old and we packed a whole 4WD with stuff. There was not one itty bit of space left in that thing. So yes, family holidays can be hectic to arrange and getting out the door takes some skills but they are skills that we all have. I’m confident that if you follow some of these planning tips below then your next family holiday will feel like a breeze…well almost.

What’s My Skiing Ability Got To Do With Getting Organised?

Ruminations of a BUSY to Balanced Mum

I wrote this blog post while in Italy recently but had trouble uploading it. It still rings true today – two weeks on from writing it!

Helen - Clutter Rescue - on the ski fieldsI really don’t like skiing. Snow skiing that is.

It’s just not easy. Dressing in Michelin Man outfits, Nanna underwear, foot binding boots and two planks that feel twice as long as they probably are is not that much fun. Even though I’ve skied four times in the last three years I still feel like a beginner.

Hubby and Mr nearly-7, on the other hand, absolutely love it. They love all the gear, have more gloves than I do bras, and can ski from first run to last run, day in day out, for two weeks.
